Hi! We are Paul and Wendy Metzemaekers. We’ve been a couple since 2010 and together we have 4 wonderful children and 3 grandchildren who all live in the Netherlands.
Paul is a technician and worked for years in the oil and gas industry before taking the opportunity to retire early which allowed us to plan a new future abroad. Paul likes to get out on his road bike, but also enjoys the occasional ride on his motorcycle. And he loves to light the BBQ and show off his cooking skills.
Wendy had a successful career teaching in Special Education and most recently enjoyed a role as director there. You’ll find her talking to the plants in the vegetable garden or putting on her sportswear for a jog by the sea. She also gets a lot of satisfaction from making people happy.
Our shared dream was to change direction, live in a beautiful sunny place and to welcome guests there.
In 2015 we started the first of many road trips throughout Spain to see if this dream could become a reality. Then, a few years later, the Costa Brava conquered our hearts. The climate, the beautiful surroundings and the gastronomy of the Baix Emporda ticked all the boxes for us.
Our ‘perfect place to live’ wish list was long: sea view, beach and a vibrant town within walking distance, a good swimming pool, and plenty of space for renting out apartments. With the construction of Casa la Vinya our dream has now come true and we are delighted to welcome you here!
Sustainability is important to us. We installed solar panels, a heat pump and a rainwater reservoir for garden irrigation at Casa la Vinya so you can enjoy a sustainable holiday with us.
